ATTENTION ALL GUN PERMIT APPLICANTS Effective March 1, 2011 ALL gun permit applications must be completed and submitted online via or by performing a keyword search: “Indiana State Police”
At the Indiana State Police Home page, look on the left column and click on “Firearms Licensing”. Click “Instructions for the Online Application Process” and read carefully. Upon completion, return to the home page and click on the left column “Handgun License Application” and complete the form. DO NOT forget to click SUBMIT at the bottom of the application upon completing the form. Otherwise, it will void the process. Examples of the Instructions and Application are attached.
The L1 Fingerprint option is also available through this ISP website.
At the Indiana State Police Home page, look on the left column and click on “INKless Fingerprinting”. You may contact 1-877-472-6917 to schedule an appointment for digital fingerprinting.
After submitting your application online and to complete your application process, you must report to the Hendricks County Sheriffs Department between the hours 8 am and 3:30 pm Monday through Friday excluding holidays bringing with you the appropriate fees in cash, EXACT change. * See Fee Schedule on next page * You must have a valid Indiana Drivers License or Indiana ID card and the address on your license MUST match the address on your application.
FEE SCHEDULE:
Online completion of Lifetime Gun Permit Application: $75.00 money order & $50.00 cash EXACT Online completion of renewal (gun permit has NOT expired): $60.00 money order & $40.00 cash EXACT Online completion of 4 year Gun Permit: $30.00 money & $10.00 cash EXACT (Fees the same as renewal on 4 year Gun Permit)
Online completion of Lifetime Gun Permit Application with L1: $50.00 cash EXACT (must present receipt of L1 process) Online completion of renewal (gun permit has not expired) with L1: $40.00 cash EXACT (must present receipt of L1 process) Online completion of 4 year Gun Permit with L1:
$10.00 cash EXACT (must present receipt of L1 process)
No personal/company checks will be accepted nor do we accept debit/credit card payments.
Normal turnaround time to receive your gun permit from the Indiana State Police Firearms Division is 12 to 14 weeks. However, if you chose to have your fingerprints done through the L1 process, turnaround time is 1 to 2 weeks. Gun Permits are mailed to the address listed on your application.
